San Jose Museum of Art

The San Jose Museum of Art is located in the heart of downtown San Jose between the The Plaza de Cesar Chavez and the Circle of Palms Plaza.

The museum was founded in 1969 but its historic wing is much older. In 1892, the building served as a post office and then as the city’s library from 1937 to 1969.

It became a historic California landmark in 1973.

The San Jose Museum of Art hosts permanent exhibitions of West Coast artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
